Original Eshet Chayil Papercut

$750.00

I wanted to explore texture and neutral colors in this piece, and ended up with a multicultural piece of art. The cream and brown amate bark paper is woven in Mexico, the white and gold floral paper is printed in Italy, the grey is a mulberry kozo paper from Thailand, and the white “wave” texture in the hamsa is a handmade paper from Japan.

The Hamsa is an ancient Middle Eastern symbol of luck and protection, and obviously the Hebrew text itself, written in gold ink, is from the book of Proverbs 31:10-31.

Description

I am a papercut artist, and I created this piece in January of 2021.

It ships matted, but UNFRAMED (framing possible upon order for an extra fee), and the unframed dimensions are 26″x26″.

She is inspired by Hebrew letter forms, sacred texts, and the concept of “Hiddur Mitzvah,” literally, beautification of the commandments. She strives to create beauty and art out of ancient traditions, allowing the texts to come alive through calligraphy, color, papercuts and design.
